Labour Roots is a rolling series of exciting, open events bringing together activists and the public with Jeremy Corbyn and members of the shadow cabinet.
Imagine a celebration of Labour politics built by our communities. Imagine discussing big ideas, radical policies and new forms of organising, with a large rally and social in the evening – mixing politics with music and forging new friendships and connections. Imagine local people, community groups, party members and trade unions working together to build a new kind of politics.
Labour Roots is going to break down the barriers between the public and their representatives.

2:00 – 3:30pm – Winning with the Green Industrial Revolution
To avert the climate crisis we don’t need to cut back, we need a revolution – a Green Industrial Revolution. Come along and join Barry Gardiner and leading local activists to discuss what that means for Hastings, including green unionised jobs, new green skills and education, and a cleaner community to live in for the many – by the many.
2:00 – 3:30pm – Refugee Buddy Project
Join the Refugee Buddy Project and Diane Abbott to learn about the biggest challenges for the refugee community, and join with residents in Hastings who have been organising to show solidarity with settled refugees.
4:00 – 5:30pm – Persuasive Conversations Training
Join Labour’s Community Organising Unit to learn how to effectively challenge misconceptions on the doorstep and inspire hope for what our country could be like with a Labour government.
4:00 – 5:30pm – Digital Campaigns Training
Be part of a groundbreaking digital team in Hastings and Rye, so when the election starts we can find vote-winning stories, create brilliant social media, and spread the word about our Labour policies and our candidate, Peter Chowney.
6pm – Great Big Rally
Join the Great Big Rally, featuring speeches from our shadow cabinet members and well-known local campaigners, interspersed with music and entertainment for an evening of People Powered Politics.
