Angela Rayner comments on EPI report
Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on the EPI report that shows that the Government should stop using the statistic that 1.9 million more children are in Good or Outstanding schools since 2010, said:
“It is now time for Ministers to abandon this misleading soundbite.
“It is fundamentally misleading for them to claim their policies have increased the number of pupils in Good or Outstanding schools when most of the change was caused by rising pupil numbers and schools that have not been inspected in close to a decade.
“Their structural reforms have so far had virtually no impact on overall attainment, and they should be honest with parents across the country instead of trying to pull the wool over their eyes.
“The next Labour government will create a good school place for every child as part of a National Education Service for the many, not the few.”
