Banks must meet social challenge of climate change – Clive Lewis
Clive Lewis MP, Labour’s Shadow Treasury Minister, commenting on a new report that shows the world’s biggest banks are failing to take climate change seriously, said:
“The major banks have a long way to go before they meet the social challenge of climate change. A decade on from the crash, our financial sector must keep a clear view of potential future crises, including the potentially heavy financial costs of climate change.
“The next Labour Government will help ensure all our major institutions take account of the environment by factoring in the costs of climate change and environmental damage to official forecasts. Labour will provide long-term financing for renewable and high tech energy projects that will create the good, secure jobs of the future.”
