Barbara Keeley responds to Government’s mishandling of the Learning Disability Mortality Review publication

Barbara Keeley MP, commenting on the Government’s mishandling of the publication of the Learning Disability Mortality Review, said:

“The Tory Government’s handling of the publication of the Learning Disability Mortality Review has been an insult to the bereaved families of 1,300 people with learning disabilities who have died too early.

“The Minister’s correction yesterday of her comments in the House of Commons does not alter the fact that NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care appear to have tried to bury the findings of the first report of the Learning Disability Mortality Review.

“There are also still serious questions for the Government to answer around the timing and manner of this report’s publication and why the Department was only ‘unofficially informed’ about it by NHS England.”
