Debbie Abrahams responds to today’s Labour Market Statistics
Debbie Abrahams MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, commenting on today’s
Labour Market Statistics, said:
“While we welcome today’s fall in unemployment, it’s concerning that jobs in this
country are increasingly low paid and insecure.
“With unprecedented levels of in-work poverty showing the
true impact of six wasted years of austerity, the last thing the Tories should be doing is cutting
in-work support for low-paid workers.
“That’s
why Labour is calling for the full and immediate reversal of damaging cuts to
Universal Credit, which will leave some working families worse off by up to
£2,600 a year.”
