“Disgrace” of sex offenders in family hotels – Richard Burgon
Commenting on a joint report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons, Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon MP said:
“This damning report should shame the government. Housing convicted sex offenders in budget hotels alongside families is a disgraceful dereliction of the government’s duty to keep the public safe.
“This report proves that nowhere near enough is being done by the government to reduce the risk posed by sex offenders and to protect the public. It is yet more evidence of how the Conservatives’ cuts to our justice system and privatisation of probation have been a costly failure that has left the public less safe.
“David Gauke must explain how this catalogue of failures has been allowed to happen, and set out what urgent action he is now taking to protect the public.”
