E.ON attempting to squeeze in as much profit as they can before the Tories’ half-baked price cap is finally introduced – Long Bailey

Rebecca Long-Bailey MP, Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary, responding to E.ON’s energy price hike, said:

“Worryingly E.ON seems to be attempting to squeeze in as much profit as they can before the Tories’ half-baked price cap is finally introduced later this year after over 12 months of procrastination. No doubt other suppliers will follow.

“Under the Tories, energy prices are rising yet again, leaving four million households in fuel poverty.

“Labour will introduce an emergency price cap to ensure that the average bill remains below £1,000 per year, whilst transitioning to a fairer system for customers. We will radically reform our broken energy market, creating publicly owned, locally accountable energy companies to rival existing private energy suppliers.”
