Emily Thornberry responds to UN’s report into the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi

Emily Thornberry MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, responding to the UN’s report into the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, said:

“It has been eight and a half months since Jamal Khashoggi was brutally murdered in Istanbul. Since then, we have seen the US Senate conclude – based on CIA testimony – that Crown Prince Bin Salman most likely ordered the murder.

“We now have this devastating UN report saying there is credible evidence for that conclusion.

“We have still not heard a word from our own government about its investigations or conclusions. Its silence is a pathetic and shameful abdication of responsibility, and it lies squarely at the door of Jeremy Hunt.”
