Government admits that it discriminated against public sector workers and wasted taxpayers’ money fighting expensive legal battles – Peter Dowd responds

Peter Dowd MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to the Government’s statement admitting that it discriminated against public sector workers and wasted taxpayers’ money fighting expensive legal battles, said:

“The Government has finally admitted that it discriminated against our valued public sector workers.

“The Government should have listened to Labour and left firefighters’ pensions alone.

“The Tories have tried every tactic, including appealing court decisions, to avoid taking action to end this discrimination.

“Labour will continue to fight any and all Tory attacks on those who keep our vital public services running.”
