Government’s warm words on climate change need to be matched by deeds – Ed Miliband
Commenting on the Climate Assembly Report published today, Ed Miliband MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, said:
“This report underlines that people from all walks of life across the UK want to see genuinely bold action to tackle the climate emergency, as well as strong leadership from government.
“The government’s warm words on climate change desperately need to be matched by deeds worthy of the scale of the challenge we’re facing. We urgently need to transform how we power our homes, move around, and use our land. We also needs to ensure that it is a just transition, in which no community is left behind, and we all enjoy the benefits of changing our economy and society for the better.
“Labour is clear the UK needs a Green New Deal. We have been consulting with the public about how to kickstart a green recovery from coronavirus that creates a better economy and quality of life for people, including – crucially – creating the green jobs of the future.”
