Hammond’s extra tax giveaways for a wealthy few will exacerbate inequality – McDonnell

John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, responding to reports that Philip Hammond is considering further inheritance tax giveaways, said:

“Only Philip Hammond would attempt to address inter-generational inequality by further exacerbating inequality. We need more houses to be built, not extra tax giveaways for a wealthy few.

“This is the completely wrong priority at a time when our public services are in crisis from Tory underfunding, and working families are desperately struggling with real wages still falling and household debt rising.

“The next Labour government will end austerity, build the homes our country needs, and introduce a £10 per hour real living wage to create an economy for the many, not the few.”
