Holly Lynch reacts to floods which claimed the life of a man in Walsall.

Holly Lynch MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Minister, commenting on floods which have taken the life of a man in Walsall, said:

“Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died today following flooding in Walsall.

“With storms leading to more than a month’s rainfall across parts of England, Labour recognises and thanks the emergency services for their tireless work across our communities at this time.

“To people heading away for the half term break, it is important to take care on the roads, allowing extra time to travel and not to ignore road closure signs.

“When it comes to flooding, the situation has not been made easier by years of Conservative cuts to flood defence spending, the Environment Agency, emergency services and local authorities who all play a significant role in managing and responding to flood risk.”
