Inflation figures – Peter Dowd responds
Peter Dowd MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, commenting on 2 per cent inflation in June 2019, said:
“Rising prices hit people struggling to get by under Tory austerity, including those facing in-work poverty.
“The two Tory leadership contenders’ commitment to a no-deal Brexit is doing further damage to the economy, and having real-world consequences.
“A Labour Government will end austerity, and – as the Shadow Chancellor has announced today – will eliminate in-work poverty by the end of our first term in office.”
