Jo Stevens responds to government’s new online guidance for keeping children safe online
Jo Stevens MP, Labour’s Shadow Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, responding the government’s new guidance for keeping children safe online during lockdown, said:
“Labour has repeatedly told the Government that advice and guidance on its own isn’t enough to protect children online.
“A DCMS Select Committee report, children’s charities and the Government’s own White Paper have called for a duty of care regulator to be established to ensure the safety of children online.
“It’s now over a year since the Government published its Online Harms White Paper and with a significantly heightened risk due to the lockdown, it’s imperative we see action in the form of legislation sooner rather than later.”
