John McDonnell comments on the IFS assessment of Labour’s manifesto
John McDonnell, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, commenting on the Institute for Fiscal Studies’ assessment of the Labour Manifesto, said:
“The IFS assessment of Labour’s plans is that we are too ambitious – we accept that with pride. We are ambitious for our country and will be investing on the scale needed to end austerity, tackle climate change and build our country’s future.”
Responding to the IFS criticism of Labour policies on WASPI and ending poverty, McDonnell added: “Let me make it absolutely clear that the WASPI women will receive the compensation for the injustice they suffered and we will not tolerate the continuation of in work poverty.
“What is also clear from the IFS is that under the Conservatives there will be no change and austerity will continue to undermine our public services.”
