John McDonnell responds to British Chamber of Commerce forecast for 2019

Commenting on the British Chamber of Commerce’s downgrade of its growth forecast for 2019 to 1.2% and forecast that net trade will make a negative contribution to GDP growth in 2019, 2020, and 2021, Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell MP said:

“This is another indictment of the Government’s management of the economy.

“Only a government as complacent and incompetent as this one would trumpet its record with forecasts as bleak as these.

“This Government’s bungling of Brexit and long-running austerity have contributed to poor trade forecasts, plummeting business investment, and youth unemployment projected to rise.”
