John McDonnell responds to inflation figures

John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, responding to news that the Consumer Prices Index twelve-month rate was 1.9% in March 2019, said:

“Rising prices make life difficult for families and individuals struggling to make ends meet, especially with the Tories freezing benefits.

“Transport and clothing prices are putting pressure on inflation – and on people whose earnings are stagnating under this government.

“A Labour government will put an end to this low-pay economy, and will introduce a real living wage of at least £10 an hour.”
