Jon Trickett responds to Owen Paterson lobbying government
Jon Trickett MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, responding to the news that Owen Paterson MP lobbied government for the firm he worked at, who paid him nearly £100k a year, said:
“When politicians appear to use public office to benefit the few, it demeans the very spirit of democracy.
“Yet this latest revelation is not surprising: the Tories are a party of the few, for the few and paid for by the few.
“A Labour government will re-write the rules on lobbying to ensure that politicians represent the people who voted for them, and not the highest bidder.”
