Labour responds to TUC report showing Black, Asian and ethnic minority employment has “plummeted” during pandemic

Marsha de Cordova MP, Labour’s Shadow Women and Equalities Secretary, responding to a report by TUC, said:

“This shocking analysis that shows Black, Asian and ethnic minority workers have lost their jobs at 26 times rate of that of white workers is yet more evidence of this Government’s abject failure to address the unequal economic impact of Covid.

“Time and time again we have called on the Government to tackle systemic racism in the workplace. Their continued denial and inaction is completely unacceptable.

“The Government must take radical action now to protect Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities from the worst economic and health impacts of coronavirus.”
