Lisa Nandy speaks ahead of Dominic Raab’s speech today
Lisa Nandy MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, speaking ahead of Dominic Raab’s speech today, said:
“This speech will be a test of character for the Foreign Secretary, who for the second time in as many weeks has been caught saying one thing in public and another behind closed doors.
“Secretly talking up the prospects of trade deals with countries with appalling human rights completely undermines this government’s public commitments.
“The UK’s allies and competitors will have noticed this government’s habit of saying one thing and doing another. Words must be matched by action. If the Foreign Secretary genuinely believes the U.K. should be a force for good in the world, he should start by ruling out trade deals with countries guilty of genocide or other severe human rights abuses”
