Matthew Pennycook comments on publication of the Climate Change Committee’s recommendations for the UK’s sixth carbon budget

Matthew Pennycook MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Climate Change, commenting on the publication of the Climate Change Committee’s recommendations for the UK’s sixth carbon budget, said:

“This comprehensive report brings home the unique challenge presented by the net zero target, the level of ambition required in this crucial decade if that target is to be met, and the range of potential benefits to be secured if the opportunity is fully seized.

“We urge the Government to legislate for the sixth carbon budget as soon as possible and urgently bring forward a comprehensive net zero strategy with fairness at its heart.”
