Matthew Pennycook responding to the Climate Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden

Matthew Pennycook MP, Labour’s Shadow Climate Change Minister, responding to the Climate Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden on 22-23 April, said:

“Today is a day to celebrate once again the return of the United States to the fight against climate breakdown.

“But as welcome as the progress made will be, this summit cannot mark the peak of the world’s climate ambition in this critical year.

“It is essential that all major emitters come forward with enhanced interim targets, the concrete plans necessary to achieve them, and a greater commitment to financially support those countries on the frontline of the climate crisis ahead of COP26.”
