Minister Nick Hurd’s comments on trust in policing are a sick joke

Louise Haigh MP, Shadow Policing Minister, responding to Nick Hurd’s comments about trust in policing, said:

“The Minister’s comments about trust in policing would be laughable if they weren’t such a sick joke, after Theresa May as Home Secretary accused officers of ‘crying wolf’ over cuts.

“Police have been warning for years about the impact of austerity on the ability of forces to fight crime, but the Government is ignoring reality.

“You cannot keep the public safe on the cheap. The next Labour government will put 10,000 extra police back on the beat in our communities.”
