Mistreated workers should not have to wait for justice – Burgon
Richard Burgon MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, commenting on new research by law firm GQ Littler that shows employment tribunal claims are taking an average of eight months to be heard, said:
“This is an unacceptable delay. Workers who have been unlawfully treated by bad bosses should not be forced to wait even longer for justice.
“The introduction of unlawful employment tribunal fees by the coalition government, the failure to properly refund people forced to pay those fees, and now these unacceptable delays in cases even being heard reveals the Tories’ true agenda.
“The Tories do not care about workers and their rights, they are only interested in looking after the super-rich.”
