Nick Thomas-Symonds responds to reports of government disagreement over street harassment laws
Nick Thomas-Symonds MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, commenting on reports of disagreements between the Home Office and the Prime Minister on laws to tackle street harassment, said:
“The Conservatives are refusing to take street harassment seriously and failing to put in place the laws needed to tackle it.
“This is yet another shameful example of their failure and shows the lack of commitment at the heart of government to tackle the appalling violence, intimidation and abuse all too many women and girls face.
“Empty words from Ministers are not enough. That is why Labour has set out – in our Green Paper – a clear plan to tackle these appalling crimes and stand ready to put these vital changes into action.”
