Passengers should feel outraged that Govia Thameslink Railway’s failure is being rewarded – Rachael Maskell

Rachael Maskell MP, Labour’s Shadow Rail Minister, responding to news that Go Ahead Group reported higher profits for the year despite Govia Thameslink Railway’s chaotic timetable launch, said:

“Passengers should feel outraged that Govia Thameslink Railway’s failure is being rewarded. Passengers have suffered years of unacceptably poor services that have brought havoc to their personal and professional lives as well as affecting their physical and mental health.

“The Government should act now to make sure Govia Thameslink Railway introduces a fares freeze across the network and the franchise should be taken into public ownership to be run in the interest of passengers, not greedy train companies.”
