Peter Kyle welcomes proposal to open Parole Board hearings to victims but calls for further improvements to victims’ rights
Peter Kyle MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Victims and Youth Justice, responding to proposals for Parole Board hearings to be open to victims and the press, said:
“These proposals represent a solid step forward that would improve transparency in the parole process.
“However, piecemeal improvements like this are not enough. The government must take urgent action to deliver a comprehensive, meaningful, and enforceable strategy for victims’ rights.”
