Problem gambling should be viewed as public health crisis

Tom Watson MP, Labour’s Shadow Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, commenting on a call by the NHS for a levy on gambling firms to fund treatment for addiction, said:

“Problem gambling has become so endemic throughout the UK, that it should now be viewed as a public health crisis.

“Labour has long argued for more investment in the treatment of problem gambling, funded through a mandatory industry levy.”
