Rebecca Long-Bailey comments on the closure of 100 M&S stores by 2022

Rebecca Long-Bailey MP, Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary, commenting on the closure of 100 M&S stores by 2022, said:

“We have had a number of very significant high-street store closures now but yet the Government is failing to do anything about it. They have no plan for the sector.

“It is very concerning for staff and customers to see the closure of so many stores. M&S should speak to workers and their unions about the implications this will have for jobs and the company must guard against a loss of service for customers in the affected areas.

”The next Labour government will support retail by investing in skills, developing a Catapult Centre for retail and creating a retail sector council.”
