Rough sleeping funding – John Healey responds
John Healey MP, Labour’s Shadow Housing Secretary, responding to the announcement of the latest round of rough sleeping funding, said:
“This paltry sum pales in comparison with the £1 billion of cuts to local homelessness services over the last decade, which have led to the loss of almost 9,000 hostel bed spaces.
“The number of people sleeping on our streets has more than doubled since 2010, as a direct result of the Conservatives’ decision to slash funding for homelessness services and support, and to cut investment in new low-cost homes.
“Labour will continue to hold the Government to account to fix the homelessness crisis they have caused.”
