Sharon Hodgson responds to IFS research on junk food marketing
Sharon Hodgson MP, Labour’s Shadow Public Health Minister, responding to the news that around half of television food and drink adverts seen by children are for products high in fat, salt or sugar (HFSS) or for fast food restaurants, said:
“This report demonstrates in stark fashion the critical urgency of tackling our nationwide childhood obesity crisis.
“Labour has pledged to give our children the best possible start in life, with an existing commitment to ban all junk food ads before the 9pm watershed.
“The Prime Minister must deliver substantial action in this year’s revised childhood obesity strategy, and stop her Government’s reckless cuts to local authority and education budgets.”
