Sharon Hodgson responds to study showing cancer survival rates lag behind other high-income countries

Sharon Hodgson MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Public Health, responding to a Lancet Oncology study showing cancer survival rates in the UK lag behind other high-income countries, said:

“You can’t trust the Tories with the NHS. This report is a reminder that years of Tory underfunding and understaffing has meant that cancer services simply aren’t keeping pace with demand.

“We know that cancer patients aren’t being seen on time, which is especially concerning when we know that early diagnosis leads to better treatment and survival.”
