It is staggering to see hundreds of Tory MPs voting to make our communities less safe – Louise Haigh

Louise Haigh MP, Labour’s Shadow Policing and Crime Minister, commenting on the Tories voting to remove the ban on high-powered rifles from the Offensive Weapons Bill, said:

“It is staggering to see hundreds of Tory MPs voting to make our communities less safe.

“Senior officers have warned the police have no known protection against these destructive weapons and yet Ministers have trooped through the lobby to remove this ban from their own Bill.

“This Tory Government is so weak that they are failing in their most basic duty of keeping the public safe.”
