Today this Government abandoned the people of Somerset – Andrew Gwynne

Andrew Gwynne MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, responding to Somerset County Council cuts, said:

“Today this Government abandoned the people of Somerset.

“Proving that Northamptonshire was just the tip of the iceberg, the stark reality of Tory austerity is major cuts to local services and the decimation of support for some of the most vulnerable in our communities.

“The policies of this Government have hollowed out our communities, and the capacity for local authorities to deliver the services that people need. The next Labour Government will put this right by sustainably funding our councils and will deal with the growing crisis we see across the country.”
