Today’s tax relief stats reveal the extent of tax giveaways which the Tories have allowed to expand without proper scrutiny – Dowd
Peter Dowd MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, commenting on the latest tax relief stats which show that there are over 200 tax reliefs for which the government claims to have no reliable cost estimate, said:
“Today’s publication reveals the extent of tax giveaways which the Tories have allowed to expand without proper scrutiny.
“In many cases there is no information about how much these reliefs cost, who benefits from them, or whether they are serving any useful purpose. The release today lists 235 forms of tax relief for which no reliable estimate of cost is available.
“Labour is committed to reducing the corporate tax relief bill and saving taxpayers billions.”
