Tories have failed to keep up with pace of change of technology – Jo Platt

Jo Platt MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, responding to the National Cyber Security Centre’s Annual Review, said:

“This report is a timely reminder of the scale of the challenges presented by cyber security, and just how poor the Conservatives have been in confronting them.

“The Tories have failed to keep up with the pace of change of technology.
Engagement with business has been poor and the UK is facing a critical cyber-skills shortage, especially in the public sector.

“The Government still does not know how many computers are operating Windows XP, the key vulnerability identified in the WannaCry cyber-attack from 18 months ago.

“Labour will close the skills and recruitment gap, and provide the decisive leadership needed to ensure our digital services are fully secure.”
