The Tories have finally backed down on threatening the loss of a day’s holiday pay for NHS staff – Dowd

Peter Dowd MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, commenting on the NHS pay announcement, said:

“Today the Tories have finally backed down on threatening the loss of a day’s holiday pay for NHS staff who under the Tories have faced years of a pay squeeze and cuts to our health service.

“This new NHS pay deal should be fully funded with new Treasury money, as Labour committed to in our 2017 costed manifesto.

“Questions still remain about our wider frontline public-sector workers, who have suffered for too long under this Government’s austerity pay cuts.

“We must now see an end to the pay cap once and for all across the whole public sector.”
