Tories must put economy and jobs first in negotiations – Gardiner
Barry Gardiner MP, Labour’s International Trade Secretary, responding to the Government’s latest technical note setting out trade rules with third countries in the event of a no-deal Brexit, said:
“This highlights yet again the risk of a no-deal Brexit to British exports and the supply chains in which British businesses participate.
“Only Labour’s proposed new customs union with the EU would ensure that British businesses do not face new tariffs on exports whilst allowing the U.K. to negotiate future trade agreements alongside the EU.
“The Prime Minister must realise that this is the only solution and now it is time that the Tories put the economy and jobs first and get on with negotiating for it.”
