The Tories are not on the side of patients – Justin Madders
Justin Madders MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, responding to Matt Hancock MP’s refusal to commit to critical NHS targets found in the NHS Constitution, said:
“The Prime Minister needs to get an urgent grip on her shambolic government and order the Health Secretary to rule out rumours waiting list targets are set to be scrapped.
“This would be a betrayal of the 4.3 million patients on the waiting list, all those who have been forced to wait longer and longer in overcrowded A&Es and the nearly 27,000 patients who waited over 62 days for cancer treatment last year.
“Minimum waiting times were introduced by Labour and yet under the Tories these rights have been undermined on a regular basis.
“With more and more patients waiting longer and longer in pain, discomfort and distress for treatment it’s now clear the Tories are not on the side of patients.”
