Tory cuts have created a crisis in the early intervention and support services – Emma Lewell-Buck

Emma Lewell-Buck MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Children and Families, commenting on the increase in child protection plans, said:

“Tory cuts have created a crisis in the early intervention and support services that help our most vulnerable children, just at the time that there are more children in need than ever before. Councils need the resources and funding to intervene early, reducing the number of children at serious risk.

“If the Prime Minister was telling the truth when she promised that austerity was over, then next week’s Budget will see children’s services given the funding they need.

“A Labour government would provide sustainable funding for councils and invest £500m in Sure Start to ensure that there is support in place for all children.”
