Treasury committee says Chancellor’s Brexit deal dividend is “not credible” – Peter Dowd
Peter Dowd MP, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, commenting on the Treasury Committee report on the 2018 Budget, said:
“This cross-party committee of MPs has shone a light on the government’s false promises and economic fictions.”
“In their scathing report, the Treasury committee found that the Chancellor’s ‘Brexit deal dividend’ was “not credible”, his economic and fiscal forecasts were “not fully consistent”, his fiscal rules have “no credibility” and his promise to end austerity is “imprecise.”
“This government has no plan for our economy, it is in office but not in power.
“The Chancellor must take No Deal off the table, and use his Spring Statement to finally end the disastrous austerity policies which have done so much damage to the economy and our society.”
