Urgent NHS funds must not be found from fire sale of patient care assets – Ashworth
Jonathan Ashworth MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, commenting on the Government’s response to today’s Naylor Review, said:
“After eight years of Tory underfunding, England’s hospitals are in desperate need of investment for repair and renewal.
“This Government’s refusal to fund the health service has seen NHS building and upgrade works pushed back, leaving patients at risk in crumbling buildings.
“The Government must now be clear with the public about what hospital sites are going to be put up for sale to plug the gaps in what is needed. The NHS urgently needs an extra injection of funds but it simply must not be found with a fire sale of assets currently being used for patient care.”
