Valerie Vaz comments on Proxy voting debate

Valerie Vaz MP, Shadow Leader of the House, commenting on today’s debate on Proxy voting, said:

“Despite the Labour Party repeatedly offering to meet immediately to resolve the absence of proxy voting for those on parental leave, Andrea Leadsom is today further kicking the can down the road.

“The Leader of the House of Commons has offered no more than warm words and has failed to set a date to make proxy voting a reality for working parents in the House of Commons.

“Labour is committed to implementing a solution straight away so that those on parental leave can carry on the work they were elected to do.”
