
What is the NextGen Leadership Programme?
The NextGen Leadership Programme has been established to train and support the next generation of young leaders of our party. Applications, are open to all Labour members aged 26 and below.
The programme will consist of a mixture of online and in-person sessions providing a high- level of training from experts to successful applicants. Graduates will be encouraged to use these skills for their personal development and to help grow Young Labour and Labour Students.
Applications will close at 9am on Tuesday 26 August 2025.
What will it include?
The programmes’ sessions will help you to develop personally; to understand theories of political leadership; your own strengths and weaknesses and develop practical political skills. Sessions will cover topics such as ‘Building your Labour story’, media and public speaking, stakeholder and political management and leadership theory.
The programme will run between October 2025-February 2026.
What are we looking for?
NextGen is open to all Labour Party members aged 26 and below.
Applicants should show:
- A strong commitment to the Labour Party and its values.
- Leadership potential, a willingness to develop into someone who can support others and take initiative within our movement.
- A motivation to be part of positive change through political and community campaigning.
- Applicants of all levels of political experience and previous involvement in the party will be considered, but the nature of the programme’s contents means some knowledge of the Labour Party and its aims are desirable.
What is the time commitment?
Applicants are expected to attend all parts of the programme.
- One day in-person Welcome
- Five online sessions
- Two day in-person residential
How much does it cost?
There are no fees to take part. Travel and accommodation expenses for in-person sessions will be paid in line with The Labour Party’s expenses policy.
How to apply
Applicants must complete the below form by 9am on Tuesday 26 August 2025.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in September 2025.
- Applicants should note that, as part of its safeguarding process, the Labour Party will carry out due diligence checks on all successful applicants, and that you must therefore declare all your social media accounts, including any you no longer use, in the relevant section of the form.
- You must send in the application before the deadline – late applications will not be considered.
- Please note that your application will be read by relevant officers of both the Labour Party staff and select NEC members. Everyone seeing applications, however, will be bound by a duty of appropriate confidentiality.
