Branch Treasurer
Help your branch campaign by keeping its finances simple, clear and on track.
As Branch Treasurer, you play a key role in making sure your branch has the resources it needs to organise activity, support campaigns and involve members. You’ll keep track of income and spending, help plan ahead, and work closely with your CLP Treasurer to make sure everything is reported correctly.
This role suits someone who is organised, reliable and happy working with numbers, and who wants to support local campaigning in a practical way.
What success looks like
A strong Branch Treasurer helps create a branch that is:
- Well-organised – clear and up-to-date financial records
- Sustainable – enough income to support local activity and events
- Transparent – members understand how money is being used
- Connected – works closely with the CLP Treasurer and officers
What you’ll do
Keep branch finances up to date
- Maintain accurate records of income and spending
- Act as a signatory on branch bank accounts and monitor transactions
- Prepare simple reports for branch meetings
Plan your branch budget
- Work with officers to set a budget for the year
- Make sure funds are available for campaigning and events
- Track spending against your plan and keep members informed
Support fundraising activity
- Help plan and support local fundraising events and initiatives
- Encourage sustainable income, such as regular donations
- Work with officers to set realistic fundraising targets
Work with your CLP Treasurer
- Share financial information regularly
- Provide branch accounts to support CLP reporting
- Stay aligned with CLP processes and expectations

How you’ll work with others
- Branch Chair & Secretary – plan activity, budgets and events
- CLP Treasurer – share information and support CLP-level reporting
- Other branch officers – support fundraising and campaigning activity

- Work closely with your CLP Treasurer – they’re there to support you

Your first 90 days
- Meet with your Branch Chair and Secretary to understand plans and priorities
- Connect with your CLP Treasurer and agree how you’ll share information
- Review current accounts, balances and any existing budget
- Set up a simple system for tracking income and spending
- Begin planning your branch budget and fundraising activity
