Internal Ballots – 2026

A full list of all the positions that are up for election this year is available below.

Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations across the various positions that are up for election this year.

Some positions will be elected at Annual Conference in Liverpool later in the year, however, for the positions that are elected this summer ballots will begin to be sent out at the end of July.

Here is a timetable:

National Officers

Treasurer

One to be elected

  • At least 12 months continuous membership.
  • Nominated by CLPs and affiliated organisations.
  • Must receive at least FIVE CLP nominations OR ONE affiliated organisation.
  • Elected by an electoral college of 50% OMOV of members and 50% of affiliated trade unions
  • Term: 2 Years

Auditors

Two to be elected

  • At least 12 months continuous membership.
  • Nominated by CLPs and affiliated organisations.
  • Must receive at least FIVE CLP nominations OR ONE affiliated organisation.
  • Elected by all delegates at Annual Conference 2026
  • Term: 2 Years

National Executive Committee

CLP Representatives (Division III)

Nine, at least four women to be elected

  • At least 12 months continuous membership.
  • Nominated by CLPs
  • Must receive at least FIVE nominations from CLPs.
  • Elected in an OMOV ballot of members
  • Term: 2 years

Local Government Representatives (Division IV)

Two, at least one woman to be elected

  • At least 12 months continuous membership.
  • Nominated by Labour Groups
  • Must receive at least FIVE nominations from Labour Groups.
  • Elected by members of Labour in Local and Regional Government
  • Term: 2 years

Welsh Representative

One to be elected

  • At least 12 months continuous membership.
  • Nominated by Welsh CLPs and Affiliated Organisations
  • Must receive at least FIVE nominations from Welsh CLPs and Affiliated Organisations
  • Elected by ballot of Party members in Wales and affiliated supporters
  • Term: 2 years

Youth Representative

One to be elected

  • At least 12 months continuous membership.
  • Nominated by Young Labour Branches or CLPs
  • Must receive at least FIVE nominations from Young Labour Branches or CLPs and one affiliated organisation.
  • Elected by an electoral college of 50% OMOV of eligible members under 27 and 50% of affiliated trade unions
  • Term: 2 years

BAME Representative

One to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Must be a BAME member who has registered their eligibility on Party systems by the close of nominations
  • Nominated by at least 5 BAME Labour Branches or 5 CLPs (where a BAME Labour Branch doesnโ€™t exist) and one affiliated organisation
  • Elected by an electoral college of 50% OMOV of all BAME members who have registered their eligibility on Party systems and 50% of affiliated trade unions
  • Term: 2 years

Disabled Members Representative

One to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Must be a disabled member who has registered their eligibility on Party systems at the close of nominations
  • Nominated by at least 5 Disabled Members Branches or 5 CLPs (where a Disabled Members Branch doesnโ€™t exist) and one affiliated organisation
  • Elected by an electoral college of 50% OMOV of all disabled members who have registered their eligibility via Party systems and 50% of affiliated trade unions
  • Term: 2 years

National Constitutional Committee

Trade Union Representatives (NCC Division I) 

Four, at least one must be a woman to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership 
  • Nominated by at least one affiliated trade union. All other submissions will be treated as supporting nominations. 
  • Elected by trade union delegations to Annual Conference 2026. 
  • Term: 3 years

Socialist Societies Representative (NCC Division II)

One to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by affiliated socialist societies.
  • Must receive at least ONE nomination from an affiliated socialist society.
  • Elected by socialist society delegations to Annual Conference 2026.
  • Term: 3 years

CLP Representatives (NCC Division III)

Four to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership 
  • Nominated by at least 5 CLPs. 
  • Elected by CLP delegations to Annual Conference 2026. 
  • Term: 3 years

National Policy Forum

NPF CLP Representatives (Division I)

55, five shall be elected from Scotland, Wales and the English Regions. One shall be reserved for a Young Labour member with two of the remaining four reserved for women.

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by at least three CLPs within the relevant region or nation.
  • Elected at Annual Conference 2026 by the relevant region/nation’s delegation.
  • Term: 2 years

NPF Trade Union Representatives (Division II)

55, at least 27 women.

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by at least one affiliated trade union. All other submissions will be treated as supporting nominations.
  • Elected at Annual Conference 2026 by affiliated trade unions.
  • Term: 2 years

NPF Local Government Representatives

Ten. Four each to be elected by the Local Government Association Labour group and Labour in Local and Regional Government, at least two each of whom shall be women; and one representative of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities Labour group and one from the Welsh Local Government Association Labour Group.

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by at least five Labour Groups consisting of at least 3 or more members. All other submissions will be treated as supporting nominations.
  • Four chosen from amongst the Local Government Association Labour group and four elected by Labour in Local and Regional Government.
  • Term: 2 years

NPF Socialist Society Representatives (Division V)

Six, at least 3 women to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by at least one affiliated socialist society. All other submissions will be treated as supporting nominations.
  • Elected at Annual Conference 2026 by all affiliated socialist societies.
  • Term: 2 years

National Womenโ€™s Committee

NWC CLP Representatives

Six to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by Womenโ€™s Branches or CLPs (where a Womenโ€™s Branch doesnโ€™t exist)
  • Must receive at least FIVE nominations from Womenโ€™s Branches or CLPs
  • Elected by CLP delegates to National Womenโ€™s Conference
  • Term: 2 years

NWC Trade Union Representatives

Six to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by affiliated trade unions
  • Must receive at least one nomination from an affiliated Trade Union
  • Elected by trade union delegates to National Womenโ€™s Conference
  • Term: 2 years

NWC Socialist Society Representative

One to be elected

  • 12 months continuous membership
  • Nominated by affiliated socialist societies
  • Must receive at least ONE nomination from an affiliated socialist society
  • Elected by socialist society delegates to National Womenโ€™s Conference
  • Term: 2 years

NWC Local Government Representative

One to be elected

  • At least 12 months continuous membership before the relevant date.
  • Nominations from at least 3 Labour Groups of 3 members or more.
  • Elected by women members of Labour in Local and Regional Government
  • Term: 2 years
