Our work so far

  • GROWTH ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Fastest growing economy in the G7

Labour’s commitment to economic stability has been steadfast, and we’ve seen that focus pay off. The UK was the fastest growing economy in the G7 in the first quarter of 2025. Interest rates have been cut five times, easing pressure on mortgages and borrowing for millions. Wages rose more in our first ten months in office than in the first ten years of the Conservative Government. Hundreds of thousands of new jobs have been created. After years of economic stagnation, Labour is delivering growth with stability.

  • Making Work Pay

A pay rise for over three million workers

Labour is delivering on our promise to make work pay. In April, we raised the minimum wage for over 3 million people – boosting pay by £1,400 for a full-time minimum wage worker aged 21 and over, and delivering a record rise for 18-20-year-olds. We’re putting money back into people’s pockets and lifting living standards across the country.

  • Making Work Pay

Biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation

Labour has launched the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation with our transformative Employment Rights Bill. Our landmark boost to workers’ rights will ban exploitative zero-hour contracts, increase statutory sick pay, end unscrupulous fire and rehire tactics, strengthen day-one rights and introduce new protections against dismissal for pregnant women. We’re delivering on our promise of better living standards and more money in the pockets of working people.

  • Industrial Strategy

    Launching a Modern Industrial Strategy

We know that economic growth relies on our innovative and world-leading British businesses. That’s why Labour has launched a Modern Industrial Strategy, with billions of pounds of government investment towards high growth sectors and technologies. This funding will help British businesses in every region to hire workers here in the UK, attract overseas investors, and slash industrial energy prices for sectors like automotive and steel that are the backbone of UK industry.

  • Get Britain Building Again

    Getting Britain building again

Labour is reforming the planning system to speed up the delivery of homes and infrastructure. We’re investing a record uplift of £39 billion in our new Affordable Homes Programme – part of our plan to build 1.5 million homes. We’re also making sure people renting their homes are better protected by introducing new rights for renters and ending “no-fault” evictions.

Why this is important

Sustained economic growth is the only route to improving the prosperity of our country and the living standards of more people.

That is why it is Labour’s first mission for government. It means being pro-business and pro-worker.

Through economic growth we will be able to boost funding for our public services, secure the jobs of the future, and most importantly put more money into the pockets of working people.
