Plan for Change
The Labour Government has set out ambitious milestones we will deliver on over the next five years, firmly putting us on track towards a decade of national renewal.
These milestones reflect the priorities of working people and build on what Labour has already done to turn Britain around, having inherited unprecedented challenges, with crumbling public services and a £22 billion black hole in the public finances, after 14 long years under the Conservatives.
The Plan for Change sets out ambitious but achievable milestones that will be reached by the end of the Parliament as we drive forward towards delivering on our key national missions, making real improvements in the lives of working people.
Built on the foundations of economic stability, economic security and border security, this is what Labour will deliver by the next election:
Higher Living Standards across the country, measured by Real Household Disposable Income per capita. So, working people have more money in their pocket as we deliver the fastest growth in the G7.
Rebuilding Britain, with 1.5 million homes over the Parliament and planning decisions made on at least 150 major economic infrastructure projects.
Ending hospital backlogs by meeting the NHS standard of 92% of patients waiting fewer than 18 weeks from referral to treatment.
Police back on the beat, with 13,000 more officers, PCSOs and special constables in neighbourhood roles and a named officer in every community through our Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee in England and Wales.
A best start to life for children with a record proportion of five-year-olds starting school ready to learn, allowing teachers to focus on the whole class. That means 75% hitting the Early Years Foundation Standard at age 5, up from 67% currently.
Secure, home-grown energy, with bill payers protected as we deliver Clean Power 2030.
This Plan for Change can only be delivered with the strong foundations of economic stability, national security, and border security.
In our first six months we have done more to fix the foundations of our economy than the last Government did in fourteen years. But if we are to put more pounds in people’s pockets we must go further and faster. You can read more about Rachel Reeves’ Plan for Growth here.
This is what Labour in power is delivering for working people.
