Emma Lewell-Buck responds to Education Committee report saying that excluded pupils are being failed by the education system

Emma Lewell-Buck MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Children and Families, commenting on the Education Committee report saying that excluded pupils are being failed by the education system, said:

“This report is a stark reminder of the thousands of forgotten children across this country who are not getting the help they need in our school system and are being let down by this Conservative Government.

“Squeezed funding means that support for pupils who need it has been lost and for those who leave mainstream schools the provision available is inconsistent, while children and their families often lack the information they need to get the best outcomes.

“This cannot be allowed to continue. The next Labour government will invest in our schools as part of a National Education Service, to ensure that every child gets the opportunities and support they need.”
