The Government must act to urgently fix our broken energy market – Rebecca Long Bailey
Rebecca Long Bailey MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, commenting on the price of wholesale gas increasing said:
“With the weather expected to turn again and the price of wholesale energy set to increase due to a spike in demand, many hard-up customers are facing yet another hike in energy bills.
“Wages continue to stagnate, energy costs are spiralling out of control and four million households live in fuel poverty, the Government must now act to protect not only the most vulnerable but to urgently fix our broken energy market.
“The next Labour government will introduce an emergency price cap ensuring that the average bill remains below £1,000 per year, while we transition to a fairer system for bill payers. We will also insulate four million houses as an infrastructure priority to help those who suffer in cold homes each winter.”
